Bonnyville RCMP are searching for the suspect of an attempted child abduction in Fort Kent.

On May 31, at around 6 p.m., a group of young children were playing on 49 Street in Fort Kent when they were approached by the suspect.

The man, described as caucasian with short black hair, approached the children on a red, 1990s Honda FourTrax 300 ATV with a black box on the back. At the time, he was wearing blue jeans and a black or grey t-shirt.

He asked a 7-year-old girl if she wanted to go for a ride on his quad. When the girl refused the suspect took a picture of her and her friends and drove off.

Bonnyville RCMP S/Sgt. Luis Gandolfi said the investigation is moving along but is still ongoing.

“We have received some good information on the situation but it's still an open investigation.”

The RCMP is asking anybody with information on the situation to call the detachment at 780-343-7200.
