Calmer winds and cooler temps were expected to help wildland firefighters at the Fort Mac wildfire on Wednesday.

The City of Cold Lake is inviting residents to participate in the annual Community Clean Up event, taking place from May 17-25, in recognition of National Public Works Week.

Lac La Biche County Fire Rescue hosted community preparedness events on Saturday in Holowachuk Estates Park and at Jubilee Park in Young’s Beach to educate residents about wildfire prevention and the FireSmart program.

On May 14, members of the community donated clean clothing and shoes for all ages at the St. Paul Recreation Centre during the FCSS and the Lakeland Family Resource Network's (LFRN) spring clothing exchange.

Second evacuation to Lac La Biche from flames for Fort McMurray family

COLD LAKE - The Government of Alberta, with industry stakeholders, is supporting caribou recovery while promoting sustainable development in the Cold Lake region - and seeking public feedback. 

As Tuesday night wore on, more evacuees made their way into Lac La Biche, one of the provincial evacuation centres for people fleeing a forest fire near Fort McMurray that is threatening parts of the northern city.

Evacuees from Fort McMurray were being directed to Lac La Biche due to a wildfire, but are now being sent to Cold Lake.
