Woman arrested, charged for stolen vehicle

“On March 27, at 11:45 p.m, police were called to a suspicious vehicle. When they attended, they found a Toyota Corolla that had been stolen from Edmonton,” Sgt. Kim Hillier explained.

The vehicle was towed and through an investigation, police located identification inside of the car.

According to Hillier, it belonged to a 37-year-old female from St. Paul.

“After a few patrols, that female was located nearby. She was arrested and held for a judicial interim hearing,” she continued.

Cherie Knight was remanded into custody and has been charged with possession of stolen property, failing to comply, and possession of what police believe to be methamphetamine.

Male charged after nearly colliding with police cruiser

It was early in the morning on March 28 when RCMP pulled over a vehicle for stopping past the stop line, “almost colliding with the police vehicle.”

Hillier said as a result, the officer completed a standardized field sobriety test, which the driver failed.

“The drug recognition expert compelted a full examination and found conclusively for drug impairement.”

Ryan Deslongchamps of Edmonton faces charges including possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a schedule one opiod.

He was released on $500 cash bail.

The Town of Bonnyville shop was broken into and a large muffler for a 2009 Sterling Truck was stolen.

Video surveillance of the incident is poor, and police are asking the public for any information, including if anyone can recall seeing a vehicle parked by the Bonnyville and District SPCA at around 10:46 p.m. on March 30.

Tips from the public help RCMP identify suspects

Bonnyville RCMP are thanking the public for their help identifying the two suspects involved in the theft from Sylvester’s Source for Sports.

“I reviewed nine tips from the public, and I know Lloydminster also got tips, because one of the males was arrested in Lloydminster,” said Hillier, adding the second male hasn’t been arrested.
