Unruly camper sent packing

A Minnie Lake camper was arrested and charged after threatening to kill a dog and kicking a peace officer.

The long weekend wasn't off to a great start for Corey Leigh Roberts, who was taken into custody on June 29.

Bonnyville RCMP were asked to respond at around 3 p.m. to a male who was intoxicated and threatening other campers at the MD of Bonnyville's Minnie Lake Campground.

"MD peace officers were already on scene when RCMP arrived. The 44-year-old male from Beaumont was arrested, and in the process, kicked an MD peace officer in the face," explained S/Sgt. Sarah Parke.

She added, "One of the threatening things he said to the campers before we arrived, is that he was going to kill one of their dogs, so he's being charged with two counts of mischief, one count of resisting arrest, one count of assaulting a peace officer, and one count of uttering a threat to cause death to an animal."

Roberts was released from custody to appear in court July 23.

Ford F350 stolen

Clean Harbors is down one of their fleet after a white Ford F350 was taken from their business.

Parke said the truck had been reported stolen on June 28, and could have been taken 24-hours prior to the call coming in.

The truck, at the time of the offence, had Alberta license plate PSU 013.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP at 780-343-7200.

Five cattle dead after escaping

A property owner who lost five cattle that escaped and went onto the highway could be facing charges.

RCMP are continuing to investigate a collision near Muriel Lake where a southbound truck hit three cattle before a northbound vehicle struck and killed two more.

No major injuries were sustained by those in the vehicles, however, all of the cattle died as a result.

Parke explained how the property owner could be facing charges.

"It's allowing cattle to access the highway and not be properly fenced in," she said.

Two cabins broken into back-to-back

Two cabins were broken into in the MD of Bonnyville on June 29.

At 10 a.m., RCMP were called to a seasonal residence on Hwy. 657 and Twp. Rd. 600 regarding a break and enter.

According to Parke, alcohol and food were reported to have been stolen.

In the same area, a second cabin had been broken into.

Police are asking anyone with information about either incident contact the detachment at 780-343-7200.

Rifle reported missing

A rifle was stolen from a residence on Range Rd. 452 near Lessard on June 29.

RCMP responded to a complaint regarding the theft from a truck sometime overnight.

"Someone had gone into his truck and garage and stole a depth finder, a fishing rod, a Jackall, and a 22-calibre rifle," Parke detailed.

"Definitely anyone with information on that is urged to call us or Crime Stoppers," she added.

Intoxicated female charged with possessing meth and mischief

A 30-year-old Bonnyville female was taken into custody on June 30 after police were called about an intoxicated woman near King Arts Apartments.

"She was arrested and ended up being charged with mischief and breaching an undertaking. Upon a search of her person incident to her arrest, a fair amount of methamphetamine was located," Parke described.

Cash bail was set at $100, and she is scheduled to appear in court July 16.

Too much celebrating on Canada Day

A male was charged with drinking and driving on July 1, after police conducted a traffic stop around 11 p.m. and determined he was intoxicated.

With readings two and a half times the legal limit, the 23-year-old Big Island Lake Cree Territory, SK male is facing charges of impaired operation and operation over .08.

Stolen vehicle, possession of meth, charges laid

"On July 4 at 1 a.m., officers conducted a roadside check with 44-year-old Sheldon Pengelly of Ardmore," noted Parke. "It was determined the vehicle he was driving was stolen, it was displaying an unauthorized plate, and it didn't have registration or insurance."

Pengelly was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, and further investigation revealed he "was in possession of a controlled substance."

He has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, fraudulent concealment, operating a vehicle without registration, and operating a vehicle without insurance.
