A transition worth taking

As I have been given the opportunity to introduce myself in this week’s edition, let’s start this by mentioning myself as a learner who likes to serve the community in the best way possible, which in my case is through writing.

As I have been given the opportunity to introduce myself in this week’s edition, let’s start this by mentioning myself as a learner who likes to serve the community in the best way possible, which in my case is through writing.

It’s been just over two years since I made the decision to move to Canada and until now I was based in St. Catharines, ON. Being a journalism graduate from Niagara College, and writing for Niagara News and Niagara this Week, both local newspapers gave me the opportunity to learn more about the place that I was living in, while simultaneously writing about some interesting events in the community.

Most of the work I’ve done includes covering community events, college campus news, sports events, columns, opinion pieces, and last but not least, lifestyle and entertainment.

Now that you know all about my beginnings as a reporter, I would like to pen down some facts about myself and things I like to do when I’m not in reporter mode.

I love to travel and experience different cultures and traditions.

I’m a shopaholic, which in-turn feeds my desire to style myself and follow fashion trends.

When I’m in my best shape, I like to model and get photographed as much as I can.

I was a commercial model last year, which I gave up after an unfortunate accident.

I think journalism is the perfect platform to completely express the journey that I’ve had and also the one that I’m about to embark on Bonnyville. Writing helps me to share the experiences with the community as well.

Until now, I mostly lived in communities where a huge crowd surrounded me all the time. I couldn’t be much happier to make a beautiful transition to Bonnyville as a reporter/photographer for the Nouvelle.
My belief is in whatever you do, do it whole-heartedly, which in return gives you an indescribable joy in the work you do.

I have always been passionate about travelling to places where my exploration level gets better every time. Being a journalist gives me that opportunity to do something new with the perception that I carry about the community.

With a bag full of excitement about Bonnyville, the first thing I did when I landed was to go out, eat, and shop. Since coming to Canada, this is my first time moving to a completely different province and even a small town. I’m comparing prices of products, taxes, and also the attitude of people.

I’m social media savvy, whether its Facebook or Instagram, and I like to keep the community updated on what’s going on.
