Tip from the public results in arrests

On July 23, the Bonnyville RCMP received an anonymous tip about a possible stolen vehicle at the Lakeland Co-op. The caller believed a man wanted by police was in the vehicle. Officers attended the scene, and confirmed the truck was stolen.

On July 23, the Bonnyville RCMP received an anonymous tip about a possible stolen vehicle at the Lakeland Co-op. 


The caller believed a man wanted by police was in the vehicle.


Officers attended the scene, and confirmed the truck was stolen. However, the man inside turned out to be Wyatt Whitford, a 22-year-old from Bonnyville.


Whitford, who was already on house arrest, was arrested and charged by the RCMP, along with a 17-year-old young offender who was also in the stolen vehicle.


They were in possession of the stolen truck, break and enter tools, bear spray, and a meth pipe.


RCMP conduct rodeo patrols


The Bonnyville RCMP wanted to make sure everyone stayed safe while having fun at the rodeo over the weekend.


“We did lots of patrols. The cops were all busy doing walk throughs at the rodeo, it kept things fairly uneventful,” said Bonnyville RCMP Cst. Walt Sidorenko.


Impaired drivers charged


Just after midnight on Saturday, July 28, Bonnyville RCMP caught an impaired driver at Mr. Mike’s.


Daniel Carbert, 26, was charged. 


Later that morning, at 10:40 a.m., officers pulled over a suspected impaired driver at Range Rd. 460 and Twp. Rd. 700.


The driver, 41-year-old Lyle Badger, provided breath samples over the legal limit and was subsequently charged.


RCMP locate, arrest Gamache


A man wanted by Bonnyville RCMP after a search warrant was executed at his property earlier this month was located near Edson.


Dean Gamache was arrested on July 23, after a traffic stop on Twp. Rd. 534 near Grande Prairie Trail. Gamache, who provided a false name to officers, was caught driving while disqualified, and the vehicle he was in had a stolen license plate.


Volunteer firefighter charged with theft


A 19-year-old volunteer firefighter in Bonnyville, Troy Atkinson, was charged after stealing a gas card from the Bonnyville Fire Department.


The Bonnyville RCMP received the report on July 23. The gas card was used without permission in over 20 transactions in Bonnyville, one in Edmonton, and four in Cold Lake. A total of 8,167 litres of fuel was filled using the stolen card.


“There are additional charges possibly coming as the investigation goes on,” said Sidorenko.


Warrants for arrest


The Bonnyville RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a number of individuals who have warrants out for their arrest:

  • James Daniel Gadwa, 51, of Kehewin
  • Robert Joseph Gadwa, 53, of Kehewin
  • Nolan Darce Lukas Youngchief, 28, of Kehewin
  • Monte Roddie Badger, 34
  • Randy Cardinal, 31, of Bonnyville
  • Allan Keith Arbour, 33, of Bonnyville

Anyone with information regarding these individuals is asked to contact the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment at 780-343-7200.


RCMP respond to domestic dispute


On July 21, at 5 a.m., the Bonnyville RCMP were called to a domestic dispute in town.


The caller reported that a man was trying to stab people. While members were en route to the scene, they were advised that the man had left. However, when officers arrived they found he was still there.


Ethan Dion, 18, is facing four charges as a result of the incident: assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and resisting arrest.
