Bonnyville RCMP is on the hunt for a man involved in the shooting of a liquor store employee.

Just after midnight on Monday, Aug. 7, RCMP received a call that a robbery had taken place at a liquor store on 50 Ave. in Bonnyville.

Three of the four suspects involved have been remanded, however a search warrent is still in effect for Tyre Darren Lorenzo Youngchief for his involvement after the robbery. The 20-year-old Kehewin resident has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

An investigation revealed three males had entered the store. One distracted the employee while the others stole various bottles of liquor.

It was during the suspect's interaction with the clerk that a shot was fired, injuring the employee. After the suspects fled the store, the clerk managed to trigger the panic alarm, alerting emergency responders.

The employee was found by police with a single-gunshot wound to the abdomen.

“There's nothing to suggest that the store clerk would have acted in anyway to engage or confront the suspects,” said Cpl. Chris Warren, media relations for RCMP K Division.

The victim was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital to be treated for his injuries, and has since been released.

A search ensued for the suspects, and with the help of neighbouring detachments and the RCMP Police Dog Services, two males were apprehended at a residence.

A third suspect was arrested later that day. The fourth individual, who is alleged to be involved with the trio after the scenario, remains at large.

A stolen vehicle was also located.

Police have apprehended Walliek St. Clair-White, a 20-year-old Saddle Lake resident.

White is facing several criminal code charges including aggravated assault and pointing a firearm.

Colton Joseph Alexander Delver, 22, was also arrested. The Saddle Lake resident has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public.

A 17-year-old male, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is also facing charges stemming from the incident, including armed robbery with a firearm.

“As far as the suspects and weapons go, that's part of the ongoing investigation. There are a lot of charges in regards to that,” explained Warren.

Because the investigation is still underway, Warren couldn't detail who was in posession of the weapon, but described the scenario as “complex.”

All three suspects have been remanded and will remain in custody.

McGilvery will appear in court Aug. 17 in St. Paul, while White and Delver are scheduled to appear in the St. Paul Provincial Courthouse on Aug. 31.

RCMP are encouraging anyone with any information to call the local detachment or Crime Stoppers.
