The Bonnyville RCMP are reminding residents to lock up their vehicles following a string of incidents.

From Aug. 24 to 29, multiple vehicles throughout town were broken into and items were stolen.

In most cases, Sgt. Sarah Parke said the vehicle was left unlocked with valuables inside.

These are two ways the public can avoid having their items, or their vehicle, stolen, she added.

“There’s a lot of preventative steps people could be taking to prevent these thefts from happening.”

Number of false alarms has dropped

According to Parke, RCMP are seeing a dip in the number of false alarms officers are responding to.

“It seems like the number of false alarms is going down a little bit. I don’t know if that will be a trend, but hopefully,” she expressed.

Parke said she hopes it’s due to public awareness.

“I always take the opportunity to explain how much time it uses up and our resources.”

RCMP are looking for information

The local detachment is asking the public for any information regarding several incidences.

On Aug. 27, a white Ford F350 was stolen from a Bonnyville residence. The vehicle’s license plate is BCD9665.

That same day, police were called about a suspicious truck and trailer off of Hwy. 657 near Kehewin. When officers attended, the truck had left, but the trailer was still there.

Police are searching for a Red Ford F350, license plate 92M144.

Anyone with any information regarding these incidents is encouraged to call the local detachment at 780-343-7200.
