RCMP locate drugs, weapons in search warrant

Bonnyville RCMP have arrested a 29-year-old man following a residential search warrant.


On Aug. 12, local RCMP conducted a search warrant on a Kehewin residence, where they located drugs, weapons, ammo, and stolen documents.


A 29-year-old Kehewin male was charged with three counts of illegal possessing or trafficking in government documents, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of misuse of credit card, and six counts of weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization.


The male will appear in court on Aug. 21.


Reported gunshot investigated in town


Officers are turning to the public for more information following a report of gunshots  at 4 a.m. on Monday.


Sgt. Sarah Parke, acting detachment commander for the local RCMP, said the report came from the east end of Bonnyville around 47 Ave.


Patrols were made of the area and there was no evidence of gunshots or bullet holes.


RCMP are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything to give them a call at 780-343-7200.


RCMP searching for man following search warrant


Local police have issued as search warrant for 42-year-old James (Jimmy) Wilgus.


The Kehewin male is being sought following an Aug. 3 search warrant, which was executed on Wilgus’ property.


He wasn’t home at the time of the search, and has been charged with four counts of breaching his conditions, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
