Police investigating death of woman

Bonnyville RCMP are investigating the death of local woman.

"On the morning of Jan. 20, Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a rural residence just outside of Bonnyville for a deceased female," stated S/Sgt. Sarah Parke in a release on Tuesday, Jan. 22. "There is nothing to indicate foul play at this time, and RCMP are continuing to investigate."

Female arrested on warrants

It was around 1 a.m. on Jan. 19 when Bonnyville RCMP pulled over a 36-year-old Bonnyville man for speeding.

The passenger, a 28-year-old female from Bonnyville, was arrested on warrants and for breaching conditions, while the driver received tickets for unreasonable speeds and for not have registration or insurance.

Cold Lake male nearly two times the legal limit

On Jan. 18, at around 10 p.m., local police received a complaint about a large pick-up truck stuck on cement barriers at a gas station north of town.

"RCMP attended and found the 40-year-old male from Cold Lake intoxicated and in the driver's seat," said Parke. "He was placed under arrest, but resisted."

The male was "eventually taken into custody," and provided samples Parke described as "well over the legal limit."

As a result, he has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving over .08, resisting arrest, and careless driving.

Pair arrested while loitering under Beaver River Bridge

A 32-year-old female and 42-year-old male from Bonnyville were arrested after police spotted a suspicious vehicle around 3 a.m. on Jan. 19 parked under the Beaver River Bridge on Hwy. 41.

"They located a van that had a plate that didn't match. There were two occupants; the male was intoxicated," Parke explained.

She added, "They were both arrested and he was released on paperwork for impaired, over .08, and breaching conditions."

The female was held in custody and released when sober.

Female assaulted by boyfriend

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the assault of female.

On Jan. 20, Bonnyville RCMP were called to a Kehewin residence at around 2:43 a.m. in relation to a female who was assaulted by her 21-year-old boyfriend.

The male was arrested and later released from police custody. Assault charges are pending.

Mailbox thieves at it again

The Canada Post superboxes located at 4704-44 Ave. and 4701-45 Ave. were reported damaged and broken into on Jan. 21.

"Anyone who may have seen anything that afternoon or may know anything is urged to call us," Parke stated.

Lloydminster man pronounced dead following collision on Hwy. 55

A 40-year-old Lloydminster man was pronounced dead at the scene of a two vehicle collision involving a car and a semi-tractor on Jan. 21, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Bonnyville and Lac La Biche RCMP responded to the collision, where a preliminary investigation revealed the car, which was being driven by the 40-year-old male, was travelling eastbound on Hwy. 55 when it collided head-on with a westbound semi-tractor.

No charges have been laid, and the name of the deceased will not be released.
