Thieves stole more than just the till during a break-in at the Bonnyville Esso.

According to Bonnyville RCMP Sgt. Kim Hillier, the west-end gas station was broken into at 1:22 a.m. on Nov. 19.

"The suspects broke the glass on the front door and entered, taking snacks, the till, and lottery tickets."

Officers responded to the multi-hit alarm, however, the suspects had left the scene before police arrived.

Police are requesting anyone who may have seen the suspect vehicle to contact the detachment at 780-343-7200.

“RCMP are asking for any information that anyone may have, whether they were driving by at 1:20 a.m. and saw either the vehicle or suspects and can provide any information to the police, that would be greatly appreciated,” Hillier said.

Concerned citizen reports dangerous driver

Derek Preston, 26, was arrested after a concerned citizen reported a dangerous driver at the four-way stop on Hwy. 41.

Officers located the vehicle, which was described by the complainant as a Tahoe driving all over the road at inconsistent speeds.

On Nov. 16, police charged Preston with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

On the hunt for suspect truck

Police are looking for information about a truck that caused significant damage to a vehicle in a local apartment parking lot the evening of Nov. 20.

“Members of the Bonnyville detachment attended the area of Duclos Arms Apartments on the west-end of town after a complainant reported a big loud truck driving around the parking lot and hitting other vehicles,” explained Hillier.

Officers arrived on-scene to find a Ford Focus had "been collided with and moved from its parking space by at least 20-feet, with extensive damage to the front-end."

Hillier said witnesses have reported a dark-coloured truck with a loud muffler was involved.

Rural property break-in

An MD property owner called police on Nov. 21 to report two blue Yamaha generators had been stolen from their rural recreational property.

“They broke into her shed and stole two generators sometime during the day, and they also attempted to break into their RV on-site,” detailed Hillier.

Package delivered

Police are reminding the public to think twice about where their items are being shipped.

On Nov. 21, RCMP were called by a concerned citizen who believes they witnessed someone stealing packages off of their neighbour's front porch.

“This individual was wearing black pants, a black hoody with a white cross on the back, and was seen walking up to the front door, taking a garbage bag out of his pocket, and putting the packages in the bag,” Hillier noted.

She added, “A lot of delivery services do just leave them at the door and this is the time when people will be scoping those sorts of things out. It’s always best if you’re having a package delivered, to have it delivered to a friend’s house where you know someone will be home, or to make arrangements to have it delivered to the post office."

Not your average vehicle theft

RCMP are hoping someone in Fort Kent witnessed a black dump truck being stolen around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 21.

“We had a report that the complainant had parked his black dump truck in a vacant lot near his residence in Fort Kent and the complainant’s friend was supposed to pick-up the vehicle and when he got there, it was missing,” said Hillier.

Anyone with information can contact the detachment at 780-343-7200.
