The owner of the Glendon Korner Mart convenience store caught criminals in the act of attempting to break into his store.

On Feb. 19, between 12:52 a.m. and 1:03 a.m., there was an attempted break and enter at the Glendon Korner Mart.

“The owner arrived before they were able to gain entry and scared them off,” detailed Bonnyville RCMP S/Sgt. Sarah Parke. “There were two trucks involved. One appeared to be a lookout.

Man facing harassment charges

Bonnyville RCMP received a report on Feb. 17 of a 25-year-old male that was continuing to visit the workplace of someone he wasn't to have contact with.

According to Parke, the male was harassing the victim. He faces charges including criminal harassment and failing to comply with the conditions of an undertaking.

He was released on a promise to appear in court.

Local business falls victim again

A Bonnyville business located on the west-end of 50 Ave. in the industrial area has fallen victim to criminals.

Sometime over the Family Day weekend, someone drilled into the gas tank of a work vehicle.

Police are asking anyone with information about suspicious goings-on in that area of town to contact the RCMP detachment.

Kehewin male charged with assault

"On Feb. 18, at 9 p.m., we were dispatched to a residence in Kehewin for a chocking incident," Parke said.

Police attended and arrested a 41-year-old Kehewin man.

He has been charged with assault and two counts of failing to comply with conditions.

Domestic dispute ends in charges

A 29-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assault after police responded to a domestic dispute on Feb. 19.

It was 8:30 a.m. when police received a complaint about an incident at a local residence.

The male was arrested and charged. He has been remanded into custody until his  court appearance on Feb. 26.

Driver charged with cannabis impairment

On Feb. 20, at 1 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle that had a snow covered license plate.

"The driver admitted to having consumed marijuana earlier," expressed Parke, adding the man failed a roadside field sobriety test and was arrested.

During a search of his belongings, RCMP located brass knuckles in his pocket.

“Further drug testing determined cannabis was at play. The driver refused to provide a urine sample, and was therefore released on a promise to appear,” Parke explained.

The 36-year-old Langdon male was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug, failing to comply with a drug demand, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Woman steals car and debit card from resident

It was 6 a.m. on Feb. 20 when RCMP responded to a complaint about a 30-year-old female breaking into a residence and stealing the victim's debit card and vehicle.

“RCMP attended and located her inside of the vehicle,” stated Parke.

Zena Cutknife has been charged with breaking and entering, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a credit card, driving while prohibited, theft under $5,000, and failing to comply with conditions.

Two arrested as a result of ongoing drug trafficking investigation

It was a joint effort that resulted in the seizure of drugs, weapons, and cash on Feb. 15.

Bonnyville General Investigation Section (GIS), with the assistance of Cold Lake GIS, Police Dog Services, and Bonnyville RCMP officers, executed a search warrant in the southeast area of the Town of Bonnyville in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

The warrant included a residence and two vehicles.

As a result of the search, police located and seized a quantity of cocaine, over $2,000 cash, a shotgun, and other drug paraphernalia typically used in drug trafficking.

Charlie Matthew Josh Houle, 24 of Bonnyville, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of a firearm without a license.

Austin Christopher Lloyd Conway, a 20-year-old Bonnyville male, has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime.

Houle was release by a Justice of the Peace on a recognizance with conditions to appear in court on March 5.

Conway was released on a promise to appear. His next court appearance is March 19.
