"It was very much about balancing services while providing tax relief," said director of finance and administration for the MD Michael Trabysh.

In total , the municipality has about $136.9-million in spending planned for the upcoming fiscal year, with most of those dollars being put towards transportation and utilities costs.

The MD included funding for a number of projects. They have allocated $4-million towards recreation, $3.6-million towards trail networks, $2.5-million for fire halls, with $1-million for the Kinosoo chair lift, $1-million in utilities, and $2-million for the municipality's Legacy Fund.

A majority of their funding, $64.2-million, is coming from municipal taxes, followed by $22.8-million from surplus, $8.4-million from government grants, $6.5-million being taken from reserves, $1.2-million in industry contributions, and $6.9-million in user fees.

The MD has included the creation of the small business sub tax class, and the decreased non-residential mill rate in their 2018 budget.
