RCMP Press Release

The Bonnyville RCMP is thanking three local fire departments and Cold Lake EMS for their help locating five missing quadders.

On Monday, June 25, five people were lost during a trail ride north of Tucker Lake.

“We had Bonnyville RCMP, Bonnyville Fire, La Corey Fire, Cold Lake EMS, Iron River Fire, and the local Search and Rescue,” detailed Sgt. Sarah Parke of the Bonnyville detachment. “It was a massive effort.”

According to Parke, there were medical issues that “heightened the severity of the situation.”

The quadders were in a location that was too remote for responders to access via regular motor vehicle.

“All of the units deployed on utility terrain vehicles and ATVs,” Parke explained.

Four of the five quadders were found quickly, however the fifth had been separated from the group.

His quad was located and a search was started from that location.

He was found, and there were no major injuries.

Parke said it was because of the collaborative efforts of all emergency responders they were able to locate the missing individuals.

“I personally would like to thank the efforts of the three fire departments and Cold Lake EMS,” she expressed. “It was a collaborative effort that had a positive result in the end, and I just can’t say enough good things about all of the teamwork.”

Cold Lake RCMP arrest and charge man following violent incident

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after Cold Lake RCMP were called to an assault in progress.

On June 13, officers were dispatched to a Cold Lake north location. When officers arrived, they determined a female had been assaulted and a neighbour had been stabbed when trying to intervene and stop the assault.

As a result of his injuries, the neighbour required emergency surgery and hospitalization.

Tigan Phillip Boostrom of Cold Lake was arrested after a three-hour standoff with police.

During the standoff, Boostrom uttered death threats to officers and other individuals.

Boostrom was charged with aggravated assault, overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence, assault, eight counts of uttering threats, resisting arrest, and four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Boostrom was remanded into custody and will appear in the Cold Lake Provincial Courthouse on July 25.
