Local student charged for possessing marijuana

A Town of Bonnyville student has been charged with possession of marijuana. Last week, a staff member at a local school called the Bonnyville RCMP about a student who had possibly brought marijuana to school.

Last week, a staff member at a local school called the Bonnyville RCMP about a student who had possibly brought marijuana to school.


Members attended, and confirmed a student was in possession of the drug.


Stunting has dire consequences


A 21-year-old has received six demerit points after being charged with stunting on April 11.


Bonnyville RCMP were doing regular patrols in town, when they observed a pick-up truck travelling at a high-speed, squealing its tires, and doing fishtails.


The driver was charged with stunting as a result.


Just trying to find a ride home


RCMP were called to a local convenience store regarding a woman who was reportedly getting into vehicles in the parking lot.


On April 15, at about 6 p.m., a resident called the Bonnyville RCMP detachment about a 22-year-old Goodfish Lake woman who had entered the complainants vehicle and then exited.


The woman was charged with mischief, theft, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.


Her first fourt appearance is May 15.


Apartment on 50 Ave. victims of B&E


A local resident is out a television, cash, and other items after their apartment was broken into on 50 Ave. overnight on April 16.


Regular traffic stops ends in multiple arrests


Bonnyville RCMP tied up some loose ends for their neighbouring detachments after a traffic stop on April 16.


At about 5 p.m., RCMP were conducting patrols in town when they pulled over a vehicle with an unmatching license plate.


Two passangers in the vehicle were wanted on warrants, one based out of Lac La Biche, and the other out of Cold Lake.


The driver was charged with driving without insurance, an offence that comes at a minimum cost of $2,875.


The vehicle was towed as a result.


Dump trailer stolen from work site


A construction company was going about their business on April 16 when their trailer was stolen off of 52 Ave.


The black 2014 Trail-Pro dump trailer has a license plate 4WS 350.

Glendon business victim of gas and dash


RCMP are investigating a gas and dash from the Glendon Korner Mart.


On April 18, at about 9:15 a.m., local officers responded to a call from the Glendon gas station that a van had pulled up, with the passanger getting out, and started pumping fuel.


The driver of the vehicle got spooked when an MD of Bonnyville peace officer went by, and took off, leaving the passanger behind, pump in hand.


The passanger also began to flee, but on foot, and was later arrested by RCMP.


The 32-year-old Lac La Biche male has been charged with theft and will appear in court on May 15.


Quick stop ends in impaired driving charges


A 34-year-old Bonnyville woman is facing impaired driving charges after a witness at a convenience store called in a possible impaired driver.


On April 18, at about 10 p.m, RCMP received a call from someone who had witnessed the accused in the convenience store acting weird. According to the caller, she smelled of alcohol.


After watching her get into her vehicle, the concerned resident called RCMP with a full description of the vehicle.


Officers found the woman and she was charged with driving while impaired.


Using a stolen credit card reults in charges


A 19-year-old Bonnyville male was charged and arrested after swiping a stolen credit card.


On April 19, Bonnyville RCMP were called to a local store where a male had used a stolen credit card to pay for his purchase.


According to Sgt. Sarah Parke, members attended and arrested the male.


“He was searched incidental to his arrest, and the stolen credit card was located on his person,” added Parke.


Officers also found breaking and entering tools.


The male has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in instruments, and theft, forgering, and misuse of credit cards.


He will appear in the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse on May 22.


RCMP reminding residents to lock up their belongings


After a number of bicycles were stolen in town last week, Bonnyville RCMP want to remind residents to lock up their belongings, especially with the warmer weather right around the corner.


Batteries a hot commodity from oilfield companies


A Fort Kent-based oilfield company lost about 34 batteries to theft.


Each battery costs approximately $100.


According to Parke, this is a common theft from these types of businesses.
