Investigation ends in arrest

Bonnyville RCMP, with the assistance of Bonnyville General Investigation Section (GIS), and the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU), have arrested and Wyatt Whitford.

His arrest follows an investigation that took place on    Feb. 5, where a 40-year-old property owner was charged with possession of stolen property after a search warrant had been ecxecuted in relation to a snowmobile stolen from B&R Eckles on Jan. 22. 

The following day, Whitford was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen truck, breaching his conditional sentence order, failing to comply, and possession of property obtained by crime.

According to Sgt. Kim Hillier of the Bonnyville RCMP, this investigation was “linked” to the stolen snowmobile.

Whitford remains in custody, and will appear in court on Feb. 14 in St. Paul.

Trucks reported stolen

Two trucks remain missing after being reported stolen over the weekend.

On Feb. 9 at around 5 a.m., RCMP received a report of a black F150 with a Saskatchewan license plate HAUTZY  was stolen from a residence on 39 A St.

That same day, a white Dodge Ram was tkaen from a Bonnyville residence at around 10 p.m.

MCU determines death non-suspicious

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has determined the Feb. 2 death of a resident as non-suspicious.
