Identity thief believed to have hundreds of victims

On July 8, RCMP executed a search warrant in Bonnyville after a complaint regarding stolen credit card data.


Officers located stolen credit cards, identification cards, cheques, and documents used for stealing identities.


Sean Stone, of Kehewin, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen credit card data, creating forged identification cards, creating forged cheques, impersonation, fraud, making available stolen ID information that could be used to commit theft, and breach of a recognizance.


RCMP are continuing to investigate, and will be contacting anyone that has been impacted by the incident.


Stone was released on a $250 cash bail, and he will appear in court on July 17.


Intoxicated male overturns vehicle trying to flee police


An intoxicated male’s trip through town ended in an overturned vehicle and charges.


On July 10, Bonnyville RCMP received a call about an intoxicated male driving through town.


According to Cpl. Chad McRae, the 56-year-old Bonnyville man had stopped at an intersection, gotten out of his vehicle, and assaulted another motorist, attempting to take their phone.


When the male failed to get the phone, he got back into his vehicle and started tailgating the driver down Hwy. 28.


Police located the suspect at his rural Bonnyville residence. He attempted to flee in a truck, but overturned it in his driveway.


He was arrested and charged with assault, dangerous driving, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, uttering threats to a police officer, mischief relating to damage to a police vehicle, two counts of breaching his probation, and resisting arrest.


RCMP wouldn’t disclose the accused’s name.


Man believed to be intoxicated on drugs and alcohol causing mischief downtown


Kyle Gilbert Nadeau, 31, was arrested on July 10 by local RCMP following incidents at a number of downtown businesses.


Officers were called around 3:40 p.m. to a laundromat on 50 Ave. where Nadeau was yelling and being disruptive. At one point, he picked up a chair and threw it onto the street before leaving the business.


His next stop was the Red Apple, where he stole a set of headphones before heading to Subway.


According to McRae, Nadeau tried to order food without paying.


He was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, mischief, and breach of probation. Nadeau was released from custody on a $2,000 no-cash bail.


Drugs and alcohol are suspected to be a factor.


RCMP searching for female following assault with a pipe


A concerned resident called in a Kehewin man collapsed in a ditch.


When police arrived at the scene on July 5, they found a man lying in the ditch with injuries. He was bleeding and his head was swollen.


The man was taken by ambulance to hospital, but refused treatment.


He told police he was at a Kehewin residence when he was assaulted by a female with a pipe.


A warrant is out for the arrest of 37-year-old Crystal Moosepayo of Kehewin.
