Footprints in the snow led RCMP right to their suspect.

Desmond Frazer Harper offered three guilty pleas during his appearance in the Bonnyville Provincial Courthouse on Tuesday, April 17.

He plead guilty to possession of stolen property under $5,000, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, and resisting arrest.

The charges stem from a March 29 incident, when an MD of Bonnyville peace officer attempted to stop a vehicle travelling 105-kilometres per hour in an 80 zone.

According to Crown prosecutor Jordan Kerr, Harper exited the vehicle but thought twice after being stopped by the officer. He climbed back into the driver’s seat and took off.

Bonnyville RCMP were called, and located the abandoned Ford Explorer, which had been reported stolen earlier that day.

Following footprints in the snow, officers located Harper hiding in a shed, and made their arrest.

After offering his pleas, Harper requested an adjournment for the completion of a Gladue Report. He will appear in the St. Paul Provincial Courthouse on May 31 for sentencing.
