Cold Lake PDS assist in arrest in Elk Point

Cold Lake PDS assisted Elk Point RCMP with an arrest and the recovery of a truck stolen out of Bonnyville.

The Cold Lake Police Dog Service (PDS) unit assisted in the arrest of two Fishing Lake males and the recovery of a truck stolen out of Bonnyville.

On Nov. 1, members of the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU), Elk Point RCMP, and Cold Lake PDS, conducted an intelligence-driven patrol in the Fishing Lake area, with the assistance of RCMP Air Services.

An officer spotted a truck believed to be associated with a wanted male. When RCMP attempted to stop the vehicle it fled at a high speed.

RCMP Air Services were able to track the vehicle as it fled throughout the Fishing Lake and Frog Lake area through fields and bush.


Police intercepted the truck, using a spike belt to stop the vehicle.

 With the assistance of the RCMP Air Services, they located a second stolen vehicle.With the assistance of the RCMP Air Services, they located a second stolen vehicle.

The truck pulled into the driveway of a residence with deflated tires before accelerating towards police and ramming a police cruiser.

The passenger of the truck was arrested without further incident, and the driver was arrested with the assistance of the Cold Lake PDS.

The truck had been reported stolen out of Bonnyville.

Air services recovered another vehicle stolen out of Elk Point.

A 42-year-old Fishing Lake male has been charged with multiple offences. Fergus Brosseau, who was the driver of the suspect vehicle, was charged with assault on a police officer with a weapon, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, and driving while disqualified.

Brosseau was treated at a hospital for minor injuries stemming from this incident and was released into police custody.

He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the St. Paul Provincial Courthouse Nov. 8.

The passenger, whose name cannot be released at this time pending the swearing of information, is a 39-year-old Fishing Lake male. He has been charged with flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime.


He is scheduled to appear in the St. Paul Provincial Courthouse on Dec. 13.
