Understanding Canada’s criminal justice system can be complicated.

A local cocaine dealer was charged and arrested following an undercover operation.

Gage J. Tizzard plead guilty to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking during his court appearance in Bonnyville on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

All it took was a tip for local RCMP to begin their investigation into a potential cocaine trafficker.

On Jan. 31, an undercover officer in Bonnyville contacted a possible drug dealer via cellphone and arranged to meet-up and purchase cocaine.

The officer met with Tizzard at a local convenience store, and bought .08 grams of the drug.

A few months later, on March 1, the officer once again reached out to Tizzard to purchase cocaine, this time they met in a grocery store parking lot. The officer purchased over one gram.

On July 10, the undercover officer contacted Tizzard a third and final time.

They met at a local pub and Tizzard sold the police officer 0.98 grams.

Tizzard was arrested for trafficking cocaine on July 25.

According to duty counsel, Hart Spencer, Tizzard made a full confession after his arrest, telling police he sold cocaine in order to support himself and his mother.

Tizzard also identified himself in surveillance pictures.

His matters were adjourned to Jan. 28, 2019 for the completion of a presentence report.
