The City of Cold Lake will be continuing work on Hwy. 28 this summer.

Drivers headed through the city will notice more construction along the highway, from 50 Ave. to 43 Ave., as Cold Lake continues their twinning project, which began in 2016.

This stretch of work is expected to be finished by June 27, however, while work is being completed, the public can expect delays in their travels.

“We’re past the largest phases of this project and we would like to thank the public for being very understanding,” expressed Mayor Craig Copeland. “Accommodating work in and around a major intersection is always a challenge, but this project is nearing completion and it will be well worth the wait. The main priority is to ensure that workers and motorists are safe while the project finishes up - some traffic delays will be necessary to make sure that is the case.”

So far, the project has included upgrades to the Hwy. 28 and Veterans’ Ave. intersection, including the replacement of utilities under the intersection, as well as upgrades to other traffic control areas.
