The MD of Bonnyville is searching for a new CAO, after the resignation of Chris Cambridge was announced on May 14.

Reeve Greg Sawchuk said there had been some discussions with Cambridge leading up to his final day with the MD after three years of working for the municipality.

"We received his resignation a little earlier, and had been in talks for a while," noted Sawchuk.

Finding a replacement could take up to six months, based on previous attempts.

"There's a limited number of qualified folks out there, and the last few times it has taken about five to six months to find a replacement," Sawchuk described. "Normally, they're previously a CAO somewhere else. There's a very high turnover with CAOs. It's usually 40 per cent after every election."

In the meantime, the MD's director of planning and development Caroline Palmer will be taking the reins.

She has stepped into the position of acting CAO, until a qualified replacement is found.

"The MD is in good hands with the staff that we have in place. They're all highly qualified to do their jobs and things will carry on as usual," said Sawchuk.
