With the assistance of Cold Lake officers, the Bonnyville RCMP detachment have charged Simon Cardinal in relation to a string of break and enters.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. on April 30, a brown Ford truck with four male occupants stole a 2006 white Chevy Silverado from REDA, located on Hwy. 660.

Just over an hour later, at 4:35 a.m., the same two vehicles entered the parking lot of the Fas Gas on 50 Ave. in Bonnyville. The suspects exited the vehicles and smashed the window beside the front door in order to gain entry.

Four minutes later, the suspects took off in the Ford and Chevy Silverado and proceeded west on 50 Ave. before entering the back parking lot of Brosseau’s Grocery Store.

The suspects entered the store by smashing the window beside the door, and fled the scene shortly after.

On May 1, Cardinal was arrested and charged with three counts of breaking and entering a business, and theft of a truck.

Cardinal is a 25-year-old Elizabeth Métis Settlement male who was also charged in relation to an incident out of Cold Lake.

Bonnyville RCMP are continuing to investigate the break and enters, and are asking for the public’s assistance.
