Alcohol could be factor in two collisions

On Nov. 18, at around 4:40 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision.


Two passengers and a driver had been ejected, while a third remained in the vehicle.


The driver was taken to an Edmonton hospital for treatment.


A collision re-constructionist was brought-in to assist the local police with the investigation.


Charges are pending.


Later that morning, Bonnyville officers responded to a second collision on RR 462.


Two vehicles were involved including a welding truck.


According to Cpl. Chad McRae, alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision as well and an impaired investigation is ongoing.


Both drivers were treated at the Bonnyville hospital.


RCMP seeking assistance identifying break, enter, and theft suspects


The local RCMP are hoping the public can assist in the arrest of break and enter suspects. On Nov. 17, at around 10:28 p.m., officers responded to a multi-hit alarm at Pharmasave in Bonnyville.

The rear glass doors of the business had been smashed using a hammer, and two male suspects entered the building.


One suspect fled on foot while the other drove a four-door SUV.


Local Police Dog Services (PDS) assisted and tracked the male who had fled on foot for quite some time, gathering multiple pieces of clothing that had been shed by the suspect.

Breaking curfew results in multiple charges


Bonnyville RCMP responded to a call of a suspicious male at the Cedar Barn on Nov. 20 at around 1:30 a.m.


Kelly Joseph Janvier, 44, was located and discovered to be breaching his curfew.


The Cold Lake man was arrested.


When police were searching Janvier, they located methamphetamine and a box-cutting knife.


He has been charged with possession of meth, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.


Man wanted on warrants arrested by EADRCRU


A man with warrants from multiple communities including Bonnyville was apprehended by the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU).


On Nov. 20, members of the EADRCRU located a Kristopher Funk, a 37-year-old St. Paul male, who was wanted on outstanding warrants from Bonnyville, Vegerville, and St. Paul.


During the arrest, the male attempted to discard a substance believed to be crystal meth, which was seized by responding RCMP.


Funk, who was arrested on his outstanding warrants, in relation to charges including possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a prohibited weapon, identity fraud, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, seven counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of driving while unauthorized, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.


He is facing additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance as a result of his arrest.
