Two men and two children were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision.

On Friday, Nov. 24, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a 24-year-old male driving a southbound pickup truck attempted to pass multiple vehicles on Hwy. 41 just five-kilometres south of La Corey.

An oncoming truck headed northbound, carrying a 47-year-old male and two 10-year-old children, maneuvered towards the ditch in an attempt to avoid a collision.

“Both of them turned into the same direction to go into the ditch and ended up colliding,” explained Cpl. Ron Bumbry, spokespersorn for RCMP “K” Division.

The 24-year-old driver suffered serious life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the Bonnyville hospital and flown by STARS air ambulance to Edmonton.

The 47-year-old man and two children suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and were transferred from the Bonnyville hospital to Edmonton.

“One child as of Saturday was released from the hospital,” Bumbry said, adding there were no further updates on the statues of the two males or second child.

According to Bumbry, road and weather conditions were reported to be clear at the time of the incident.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.

“Charges have not been laid yet, but the investigation is ongoing,” Bumbry noted.
