After a successful mud-filled weekend in 2015 organizers have decided to bring back Extreme Mudfest for another action packed three days in August.

“Last's years event was phenomenal for us. We were blown away by the community support,” said Mudfest producer Billie Jo Aasen.

“We had thousands of people there. Everything was so positive and so much fun. I think we would be silly not to be doing it again.”

The first official announcement for Extreme Mudfest 2016 came out on Dec. 15, when organizers revealed that Canadian rock band Trooper and CCMA Award winning country artist Chad Brownlee will headlining the event.

Friday night will see Trooper “Raise a Little Hell” on the Mudfest stage bringing classic hits like “We're Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time), and “The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car,” to the Bonnyville Rodeo Grounds.

“Trooper is just such a great classic band,” said Aasen. “If you haven't seen them live they are definitely a show to take a look at. They are so much fun. They always get the party going.”

Saturday night will be country night, with Kelowna's Chad Brownlee the main attraction.

He will be performing songs like “Where the Party At,” “Love Me or Leave Me,” and “Smoke in the Rain.”

“He is a heart-throb to the ladies so I think the girls are pretty excited that he is going to be there,” said Aasen.

Along with the music, the event will still feature a full weekend jam-packed with mud.

The mud slinging, heart-racing entertainment of the three-day festival features tuff trucks, demolition derby's, lawnmower races and Canadian Mud Racing Organization (CMRO) sanctioned events.

In 2015, Fueled by Rednecks partnered with the CMRO executive Rick Reddecliff, who created the Ardmore Extreme mud event 12 years ago. They brought on 542 Entertainment as a production and talent company, rebranded the event as Extreme Mudfest and moved it from Ardmore to the Bonnyville Rodeo Grounds.

The first ever Bonnyville Mudfest was held Aug. 21-23 and featured The Trews, FKB, Aaron Pritchett and The Roadhammers.

“I have been producing shows for a very long time and this was one of the only shows that I have had that has literally not had one complaint,” said Aasen.

“We feel so welcomed by the community and we just want to bring it back bigger and better this year.”
