The City of Cold Lake isn't “A Little Too Late” on getting their hands on a show that will have the city stomping their boots.

Country hit singer-songwriter Toby Keith is coming to Cold Lake, and it is going to be a show people won't soon forget.

Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland has been buzzing for weeks about the news of Keith's performance on Friday, July 14, 2017, and said he is sure it is going to be a sold out show.

The city has had Keith on board for several months now, but just made the announcement last week that he would be making a stop at the Energy Centre.

“He's a big time entertainer,” said Copeland, adding they had been approached by a number of residents interested in seeing a big country artist come to the area, which is why they decided to get Keith on board.

“Toby Keith has a lot of fans, so there are a lot of people that are excited that the city has signed him up,” Copeland added. “It's going to be fascinating to see how quickly we sell out.”

Copeland said although tickets may be a little on the pricier side, it is to help cover the cost of bringing an artist such as Keith to the area.

“People have to realize that we have just under 3,000 seats in the arena for our concerts… but people also have to realize if they went to see Toby Keith in Edmonton or Calgary, they would also be paying for fuel, hotels and all of that.”

By hosting a concert of this calibre, the city is hoping to bring people from outside of Cold Lake to help offset some of the costs of hosting an artist as big as Toby Keith.

“When we bring in these big acts, we are trying to attract people coming from an hour and a half to two hour radius into Cold Lake,” said Copeland.

Keith is described as a patriotic man, who has a soft spot for the armed forces.

By coming to Cold Lake, it will be an experience for both the community, and Keith himself.

“I think he is really going to appreciate the area and the armed forces and what they do for Canada,” said Copeland.

Tickets for the event go on sale Dec. 2 and can be purchased on the City of Cold Lake website.
