The Bonnyville RCMP are urging parents to talk to their kids about the dangers of prescription drugs, following the hospitalization of a local youth.

On Feb. 13, RCMP responded to a local school where a youth had taken his parent's prescription drugs.

“He had to be taken to the hospital (as a result),” said Bonnyville RCMP Sgt. Sarah Parke.

She added, “RCMP urge parents to ensure they discuss this type of activity with their kids and the dangers of it, and to take precautions to lock-up prescription medication.”

After 13-collisions last week, RCMP are reminding residents to drive according to the weather and road conditions.

On Feb. 14, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision which resulted in the driver being charged for failing to drive to road conditions.

Parke stresses that even though the sun is shining, that doesn't necessarily mean the roads are ice-free.
