Laura Papirny is ready to continue serving the residents of the Village of Glendon as their mayor.

On Thursday, Oct. 26, during their first meeting as a new council, Papirny was named Mayor of Glendon for another four-year term.

Papirny was elected by her peers to sit in the mayor's chair. Residents voted for the three candidates who will represent them on council while the newly elected councillors decide who out of the three will be mayor.

Excited to continue to build on her previous term, Papirny promises to work hard for her community.

“I am going to try very hard to accomplish even more this term,” she said.

On her list is infrastructure, supporting the business community, ensuring community groups are well supported, and working with Glendon School on their ongoing projects.

“We have a good council. They offer a different perspective,” Papirny said.

Scott Lundgren and Nancy Pelletier will be sitting on council alongside Papriny. As business owners, they will provide a different outlook on some of the concerns of the village.

“They can offer some new ideas,” Papirny expressed.

Council will also be working with the Glendon and District Business Alliance to continue to build on supporting the local economy.

Papirny is a registered nurse, a mother, and in her spare time, represents the residents in the village.

“I am willing to fight for the village and ensure that we get what we need in order to continue to be a sustainable municipality.”
