A man known to local RCMP was arrested and charged over the weekend. On March 16, an employee of an oilfield company recognized their stolen truck on the road. Officers followed up on the report and located the vehicle.

A 25-year-old Mallaig male and 30-year-old Ardmore woman have been charged in relation to the theft.

The man is facing charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, driving while disqualified, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, driving at a dangerous speed, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

The female was charged with possession of property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of methamphetamine.

Man has a little too much fun over St. Patrick’s Day weekend

A 21-year-old Saskatoon man was caught driving nearly three times the legal limit on Monday, March 19.

At about 3 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP pulled over a suspected impaired driver. Investigation into the male’s blood-alcohol level revealed he was almost three times the legal limit.

He has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving over .08, and driving while disqualified.

Overstaying their welcome

Local police are investigating a visitor at a local hotel after reports that sometime prior to March 17, they had broken in and been staying in one of their rooms.

Police have a hunch who the uninvited guest may be, and are continuing to investigate.

Patrols in Glendon end on a high note for local members

Bonnyville RCMP were patrolling in Glendon over the weekend when they spotted a suspicious Ford F-150.

After running the plate, police determined it had been reported stolen out of the Tofield detachment area.

A 48-year-old male was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

A 29-year-old Glendon female was also charged with the same offences in addition to failing to comply with conditions.

CRA scam claims another victim

A local woman is out $2,000 after falling victim to a CRA scam.

The 55-year-old woman purchased the amount in iTunes cards after receiving a call from someone claiming to be from the CRA.

They told the woman she would be arrested if she failed to pay off the full amount owing in back taxes.

RCMP are reminding residents the CRA will never accept gift cards as payment, and will never threaten to have someone arrested.

They suggest hanging up, and calling the CRA line directly to confirm the status of your account.

Edmonton man arrested in relation to Bonnyville sexual assault

A 25-year-old Edmonton man was arrested and charged after an incident on March 10.

At about 2:30 a.m., RCMP attended a local hotel where a woman called claiming she was sexually assaulted.

The suspect was arrested later that same day and charged with sexual assault, assault, overcoming resistance, and two counts of breaching his conditions.

Detachments working together to solve the case

The Bonnyville and Cold Lake RCMP detachments are working together after a vehicle was stolen from an oil company.

The vehicle was tracked through Kehewin and recovered at Cold Lake First Nations.

The investigation is still underway, and anyone with information is asked to call either detachment.
