Pontiacs roll Thunder 3-1
The Drayton Valley Thunder rolled into town yesterday afternoon (Jan. 27) to take on the Jr. A Pontiacs in a North Division battle at the R. J. Lalonde Arena.
It was a close game the entire way, before Pontiacs forward Dallas Ansell scored on the empty net to make it 3-1. Forwards Ty Carey and Keith Csizmadia also scored for the Pontiacs, while Ansell and Carey each added an assist in the win.
Bonnyville, winners in six of its last seven games, welcome the South Division leading Brooks Bandits to town tonight (Jan. 28). Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Pontiacs will continue the tradition of donating the jerseys off their backs at the team's fourth annual Jersey Night, in support of the Bonnyville Health Foundation for tonight's game at the R.J. Lalonde Arena.
As part of the tradition, the Pontiacs will wear specially designed retro jerseys, sponsored by B&R Eckels, commemorating a past Pontiacs team. This year's jerseys will pay tribute to the 1980-81 Bonnyville Senior Pontiacs that appeared in the Hardy Cup that season.
The game-worn jerseys will be on silent auction throughout the evening and the winning bidders will be presented with the jerseys by the players in an on-ice ceremony immediately following the game.
